A major North American city of more than 2 million people wanted to improve the mobility of its citizens. In 2017, the first phase of the project was initiated: leverage dynamic parking guidance to support its smart mobility initiatives. The second phase was launched in 2019. In total, nearly 400 displays powered by the ITEStransit software were installed in different areas of the city.
Optimizing parking usage
All over the city, digital displays indicate in real time the location of nearby parking areas as well as the number of available spaces. These displays are also used to display other types of information such as street closures, roadwork or tourist information during festivals. Citizens and visitors can therefore plan more efficient trips around the city.
The ITEStransit software is connected to the city’s mobility management center, which helps share street closure or roadwork messages faster. As for parking information, the number of available parking spaces is adjusted automatically and without any human intervention.
Enhanced experience for citizens
Through the successful implementation of dynamic parking guidance, this North American city achieved its smart mobility ambition. With hundreds of strategically placed digital displays, citizens can benefit from optimized transit planning which supports urban efficiency and comfort.
